After the film ‘Darbar’ flopped, Sun Pictures has decided to deduct the fees of South Superstar Rajinikanth for his next film ‘Thalaivar 168’. Let me tell you, ‘Darbar’ directed by AR Murugadoss had a loss of Rs 70 crores. It is one of the biggest flop films of Rajinikanth’s career.
According to a report, Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures recently met Rajinikanth and persuaded him to cut the fees after the huge loss of ‘Darbar’. A source said that Maran met Rajinikanth on the sets of his new film last week. Concerned that the ‘Darbar’ flopped, Maran first requested Rajinikanth to cut the fees. But when the superstars were not ready for this, Maran said that in such a situation they would stop the project in between. Eventually, after much deliberation, Rajinikanth agreed to reduce his fees.
Let me tell you, Rajinikanth was paid a fee of Rs 118 crore (including GST) for ‘Darbar’. Sun Pictures has now offered a fee of Rs 58 crore (including GST) to Petta Star.
Shiva is directing ‘Shiva’ 168th ‘Shiva’ fame. The film will see Lady Superstar Nayantara in the lead role alongside Rajinikanth. Let me tell you, the pair of Rajinikanth and Nayantara were also seen in ‘Darbar’. The official title of ‘Thalaivar 168’ has not come yet but the film is being known by this name.
