Famous Bengali film actor and leader Tapas Pal died in Mumbai on February 18 due to cardiac arrest. He was 61 and is survived by a wife and a daughter.
He came to Mumbai to meet his daughter. He had severe chest pain at the airport on his return to Kolkata. Pal was rushed to a hospital in Juhu where he breathed his last at 4 am. Pal contested the Lok Sabha elections from Krishna Nagar in 2009 and 2014 and won.
He made a mark in the hearts of film lovers with his brilliant performances in Bengali films. Superhit puppies like Dadar Keerti (1980), Saheb (1981), Bhalobasa Bhalobasa (1985), Gurudakshina (1987).
Madhuri Dixit started her career with the film ‘Abodh’ in which the hero was Tapas Pal.
Many leaders and actors have mourned his death.
