new Delhi. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in the Rajya Sabha today that during the year 2019-20 in West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab there has been a decrease of 19.2 percent in the incidents of stubble burning.
Tomar, in response to a question during the Question Hour in the House, said that the government is constantly making efforts to reduce the incidence of stubble burning and is running many schemes.
He said that in order to prevent incidents of stubble burning in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab and Delhi, a central scheme of Rs 1151.80 crore has been launched. Under this, funds are being released to all four regions.
He informed that 56 thousand 290 machines have been supplied to farmers under this scheme. During the year 2019-20, a target has been set to supply 46 thousand 578 machines. Cash assistance is also being given to farmers for disposal of residues of crops.
