The bill to replace the ordinance prohibiting the production, manufacture, import, export, sale, distribution, storage and advertisement of electronic cigarettes was introduced in the Lok Sabha today. The government on 18 September brought an ordinance banning the import, production, sale, advertising, storage and distribution of e-cigarettes across the country.

In view of the health hazards, the government had on September 18 brought an ordinance banning the import, production, sale, advertising, storage and distribution of e-cigarettes across the country.

For those violating the ban, a provision of imprisonment of up to one year or fine of one lakh rupees or both is made. Tips on e-hookah, heat note burn products etc. have also been banned under this ordinance.
